It boasts significant performance enhancements compared to its predecessor, including faster CPU cores, improved multimedia, and expanded interface capabilities. This release is unique in that it provides a variety of RAM densities and wireless connectivity options.
The external dimensions of this version have been redesigned to a completely new mechanical standard. The overall footprint of the module on its carrier board has been minimized, resulting in a more compact form factor that is ideal for integration into various products.
In terms of storage, the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) offers optional onboard eMMC of 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB, a departure from the Raspberry Pi 4's Micro SD card slot. This particular version of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 is equipped with a high-performance 64-bit quad-core processor, 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, and supports dual monitors up to 4K resolution. It also features hardware video decoding up to 4Kp60, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, dual camera interfaces, a PCIe Gen 2 x1 interface, dual-band 2.4/5.0GHz wireless LAN, and Bluetooth 5.0.
